I’d like to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation myself.  What do I do?

  1. Watch this video.
  2. Use one of the handouts on the website to help you examine your conscience.
  3. Feel free to print one of the guides to the sacrament that includes an Act of Contrition and bring it with you.
  4. If you would like some extended time to talk to the priest, get some spiritual guidance as well as celebrate the sacrament, make an appointment so you are not rushed.  Do that by calling the parish office at (804) 282-9511.
  5. Saint Bridget Church offers confessions on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM or anytime by appointment.  Times for confession at other parishes are usually easily found on their websites or by telephone.  Some find going to another parish simplifies the process.  Feel free!
  6. During Advent and Lent the parish will offer multiple times for Confession. Neighboring parishes may have communal services to which you are welcome.  If you’ve not been in a while, attending one of these communal services can help you prepare and give the Holy Spirit a chance to call you to the celebration.  There’s no imperative to go to individual confession at one of these services, but the opportunity is there if the Holy Spirit calls!
  7. We encourage you to celebrate the sacrament during the services for your children on January 13 th or 20 th, 2018.  Our priest confessors are there to serve you, and are happy to do so!

  5. 6. If you have not been to confession in a while and would like to come to communion, please go to the first part of these FAQs for steps to prepare to meet the Lord Jesus’ mercy in this sacrament.
