St. Bridget’s Women’s 2013 Retreat
Women of Faith in the Year of Faith: Discovering the Presence of Christ
Calling all Catholic Women of St. Bridget Church, from all walks of life. Please join us for an in-house retreat:

Guest Speaker: Karen Hurley
This Lenten Retreat will be a time of prayer, reflection and discovery of the presence of Christ in our lives, and our roles as Women in the Catholic Church.
The Guest Speaker for this year’s retreat is Karen Hurley from The Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick, Harrisburg, PA. Karen has served as President General of the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations; she has been a Member of the Holy See Delegation to the United Nations 55th Commission on the Status of Women, and an active Member with the National Council of Catholic Women. At the request of Most Reverend Kevin C. Rhoades, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI granted Karen the Pontifical Honor of Dame of the Equestrian Order of Pope Saint Sylvester for service to the Church in the Diocese of Harrisburg. Karen is excited to share her journey with us and help us to learn more about the presence of Christ through our own participation in the Catholic Church.

The Cost to attend the retreat is $20.00 per person. Participants may sign up online through E-giving, please go to the St. Bridget Website and click on the blue E-giving box in the upper right hand corner of the website, once you are on the E-giving page click on Guest Transaction and scroll down to the Special Collections section and look for Women’s Retreat. You may also drop off a check in the office made out to St. Bridget Church with a note in the memo that says Women’s Retreat 2013.

Men’s Ministry
The mission of the Saint Bridget Men’s Ministry is to “build
a stronger relationship with Christ & a deeper love for
family & friends through spiritual growth and Christian
fellowship.” For
over ten years, Saint Bridget Men’s Ministry has conducted monthly
meetings, annual retreats & bi-annual social events for
the men of Saint Bridget parish. The Men’s Ministry meets the first
Saturday of each month to study & discuss the Scripture
readings for the following Sunday’s Mass. We meet at 6:45 a.m.
in the Parish Center Meeting Room, & finish in time for
8:00 a.m. Mass in the Church. We publish a weekly Saint Bridget
Men’s
Ministry E-News, which details announcements of activities
& member requests for help, prayers & support. We also
formed a Men’s
Ministry choir in 2005. To learn more, contact Charlie

Knights of Columbus Msgr. Francis Byrne Council 5476
Membership in the Knights of Columbus provides the opportunity for a wholesome association with other Catholic gentlemen who recognize the same beliefs of duty to God, family & neighbors. Programs are tailored to individual members' interests. Council meetings take place the fourth Thursday of each month in the Parish Center Meeting Room.

KNIGHTS COUNCIL RECEIVES TOP INTERNATIONAL AWARD
Knights of Columbus Council 5476 of St.Bridget Church has earned the distinction of Double Star Council for the 2009-2010 fraternal year. The organization's headquarter, located in New Haven, Ct., made the announcement. The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment (reaching 200% of quota, thereby making it a "doubler star") and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. The award was presented to the membership by Past State Deputy Pat O'Donnell at a special ceremony held on January 8th.
"Receiving the Double Star Council Award is quite an honor for us. We're extremely proud of this accomplishment," proclaimed Past Grand Knight Richard A. Willig. "We are one of only five councils in the Commonwealth of Virginia to achieve this recognition".
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic lay organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the church, their communities, families and young people. With more than 1.8 million members in over 13,000 councils around the world, the Knights of Columbus annually donate more than $151 million and 69 million hours of service to charitable causes. Saints and Sinners
The Saints and Sinners (SAS) is... a vibrant group of parishioners & friends of the parish ranging in age from fifty years
and up. The mission of the SAS is to provide its members with interesting
social & spiritual programs. The SAS group meets monthly,
varying between morning coffees, luncheons & afternoon meetings.
Each SAS gathering includes a presentation and a social get-together.
Past meetings have focused on art, history, poetry, safety, health
& other special topics. They have also included spiritual celebrations
& mini-retreats. The SAS enjoys several annual events,
including St. Patrick’s Day & Thanksgiving Luncheons, as well
as annual theme dinners (Italian, Oktoberfest & an American Picnic).
The group also takes day excursions ranging beyond Richmond, including
trips to Washington, Lexington & Jamestown for its 400th
anniversary celebration.
Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, unless otherwise arranged. To learn more about upcoming events, visit our bulletin board in the Parish Commons and regularly check the website. Please consider joining our SAS Coordinating Group to help plan and prepare future meetings.

Welcome Committee
This important group organizes several receptions throughout the year to welcome the parish’s newest members.
Are you looking to join St. Bridget Church? If so we welcome you to join our Parish Family! Please join us for Second Sundays. The second Sunday of each month we will be hosting a new member orientation in the Parish Center Meeting Room after the 9:00 a.m. Mass. The next Second Sunday will be September 9th t(here will be no Second Sunday in August) parish clergy & leadership will educate you about the different groups and opportunities to get involved in parish life.
